Proposed to create an unconventional digital system to keep track of time, Carl Linnaeus’s flower clock, published in Philosophia Botanica (1751), stood as a direct inspiration. Creating a Google widget that displays a new flower for each hour of the day based on when each flower is in full bloom. The flowers may group based on how long the actual flower stays open during the day or night, some may last a couple of hours, and some even close in minutes depending on the season.

The user can display the time, date, name of the flower, additional info about each plant, or simply the flowers as they wish. Future releases of this widget will include 24 flowers to display a full day as well as various sets of plants that coincide with each season.
